Searching for Oil Deep Beneath the Gulf’s Surface

Russ Brown, the leader of our Ecosystems Survey Branch is the chief scientist aboard the NOAA Ship Gordon Gunter, which is now conducting sampling in the Gulf of Mexico and investigating the subsurface plume near the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill site and adjacent area. The mission is a collaborative project among NOAA, academia, and the private sector.
