Lots of humpback whales and dolphins

The Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) aerial survey team has covered a lot of  ocean in recent days. On May 21 the team surveyed Great South Channel-SCOPEX South and North. Although they did not see any right whales, they did see 53 humpback whales, 3 fin whales, 14 minke whales, 152 common dolphins, 60 Atlantic white-sided dolphins, 7 harbor porpoise, and 25 basking sharks.

On May 24, the team sighted 2 fin whales and 1 basking shark in Jordan Basin and Jeffreys Bank.   The following day, On May 25, they sighted 2 fin whales, 1 sei whale, 3 minke whales, and 8 basking sharks on Jeffreys Ledge and Wildcat Knoll.  No right whales were sighted either day.
