Lots of Animals in Great South Channel

A six-hour survey of Great South Channel – SCOPEX South and North on July 3 was a productive one and included sightings of 2 right whales. The team also saw 16 humpback whales, 4 fine whales, 7 minke whales, 393 Atlantic white-sided dolphins, 4 harbor porpoise, 14 basking sharks, 20 ocean sunfish, 9 blue sharks and 30 tuna.

The NOAA Twin Otter flew a three-hour survey July 2 over Rhode Island Sound, where they team observed 1 minke whale, 1 blue shark, 2 ocean sunfish, and 2 leatherback turtles.  No right whales were sighted.
